Ashland, CA – Today, Jennifer Esteen’s campaign for Alameda County Supervisor announced the endorsement of Amar Shergill, Progressive Caucus Chair of the California Democratic Party. Shergill was elected to the California Democratic Party in 2019, is Vice President of the Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association, and a Board Member of the Sacramento Sikh Temple.
“California needs progressive leaders like Jennifer Esteen, with the courage to speak for the community even when there is a political cost for doing so.” said Shergill.
“I’m honored to have Amar’s endorsement and support, he is the representative leader of Progressive Democrats across the state and having his support is a beacon to others who want better representation for our communities,” said Esteen. “I work for and represent values that put the members of my community first. Amar and I are both strong advocates for policies like universal healthcare, expanding access to preventative behavioral healthcare, moving legislation and governmental investment towards a cleaner climate while supporting working people in the process, universal childcare, a minimum wage that is a living wage, and housing for everyone.”
Jennifer Esteen is a registered nurse, mother, and community leader serving as Vice President of the Alameda Health System Board of Trustees and a member of the Eden Municipal Advisory Council. She has spent her career delivering care to the most vulnerable, including working as a psychiatric nurse in the San Francisco General Hospital Psychiatric Emergency Room, where she saw firsthand the vicious cycle that people experience from diminished funding for mental health care. She is currently working with San Francisco residents who have severe mental illness, need supportive housing, ongoing treatment and help managing activities of daily living. Jennifer has lived in the East Bay for 20 years and has lived in Ashland with her wife and children since 2015.
